Features:

Being broad spectrum it affords control over all sucking pests and foliar feeding larvae. It is basically used as an acaricide giving excellent control of mites on a variety of crops. It exhibits ovicide cum adulticide actions. Fast knock down action with long lasting residual activity.

Application Method:

Profeton 50 EC can be applied as a foliar spray. Preparation for Spray Solution: Take a small quantity of water in a container and dissolve required quantity of Profeton 50 EC in it.

Recommendation: It is used to control bollworms, jassids, aphids, thrips and whitefly of cotton and semilooper and girdle beetle in soybean crop.

Packaging:

Available in 100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml, 1 litre packs.

Antidote:

Administer Atropine Sulphate intravenously 2 – 4 mg at 5 – 10 minutes interval until the symptoms of poisoning disappear. 2-PAM can be given in severe cases intravenously very slowly (1 – 2 g taking 5 – 10 minutes).

Precautions:

• Do not spray against the wind direction.
• Always wear protective clothing while handling.
• Do not smoke, eat or drink during application.
• Wash hands and body thoroughly after spraying.

MODE OF ACTION

• It is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme acetyl cholinesterase, which is essential for the transmission of impulses between nerve cells
• It binds tightly to and inhibit the enzyme acetylcholinesterase and disrupts nerve impulse transmission by acting in synaptic regions of insect nerve cell, which leads to the hyperexcitation of the nerves
• This nerve overstimulation followed by convulsions and paralysis leads to death of the target insect
